Where did the idea come from?
The Albuquerque Arts Business Association (AABA) had been discussing ways to elevate the art community in Albuquerque and New Mexico. Several ideas have been discussed to create an event like the expos found in the large cities of the U.S.
Roy Sumner Johnson has been involved in many events to promote the arts throughout his years as owner of Sumner and Dene Gallery right here on Route 66 in Albuquerque. The idea to create a showcase in Albuquerque to draw attention to the magnificent artists of New Mexico was enthusiastically endorsed by the board of the AABA. Known to most of the art community as the ARTScrawl people, this organization has worked to promote art locally and nationally and to help galleries connect and collaborate.
It was decided that we would approach the City of Albuquerque for support and when they along with the Albuquerque Convention Center as well as Visit Albuquerque agreed to support and promote this showcase, we knew we had a good start.
Look through the tabs on this webpage to find out more about booth rental fees and sizes, dates, schedule and participating guilds and galleries and artists.
Together we will make it happen!
